Why Invest in FOSNA?
Each year, our U.S. tax dollars fund $3.8+ billion dollars for the Israeli military and the oppression of the Palestinian people. On tax day, help offset this amount with a decision to invest in justice. Specifically, here are six reasons why you should invest in Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA):
Because our Congress is lobbied daily by Christian Zionist organizations to send billions in military funding to Israel. Americans are complicit in the ongoing violation of Palestine, and taking responsibility for this means contributing membership to organizations that say, “Not in Our Name!”
Because Christian Zionism is financially invested in the eradication of the Palestinian people, with funding from Christian Zionist donors outpacing funding from Jewish Zionist donors. The logic that Christians can harken the apocalypse (by facilitating the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians) is both anti-Semitic and antithetical to the teachings of Jesus.
Because Palestinian Christians have specifically asked Christians around the world to take up a campaign against apartheid, the military occupation of their land, and their subsequent mass displacement. When we are called upon, we cannot turn deaf ears. It is not a choice.
Because self-identified Christians have a long history of participating actively in genocidal campaigns around the world, obliterating indigenous ways of being in the world and massacring millions. We must reject this and reconcile ourselves against this violent history.
Because Christians are a diverse community of people all over the world who have an expressed interested in the Holy Land and the peaceful future of those who live there. This community must organize in order to realize such a future.
Because we are strategically mined, yet spiritually centered first and foremost. The means and the ends are the same for FOSNA. Boycott, divestment, sanctions, education, advocacy, and intersectional solidarity are all ways we seek to show up for oppressed communities.
