The Destruction in Gaza Has Spread to the West Bank-
Palestinians & Allies To Hold Prayer Vigil/Press Briefing
On-line- In coordination with Sabeel’s Wave of Prayer, Friends of Sabeel North America (FOSNA), a Christian voice for Palestine, is hosting an on-line prayer service and press briefing on Wednesday, September 18th at noon eastern time to uplift the prayers and the stories of the people of Palestine, in particular the West Bank who are now facing the same devastation and ethnic cleansing as their siblings in Gaza.
When & Where- Wednesday, September 18th noon EST- register for Zoom link here.
Who- Emily Debinie, a US Citizen with family in the Village of Zababdeh outside of Jenin; Omar Haramy administrator of Sabeel, Palestinian resident of Jerusalem; Walid Basha a resident of Jenin, a member of and a professor of microbiology at the An-Najah National University; and others.
What- Prayers of lament for and protection from the ongoing destruction and devastation that has now come to the West Bank from Gaza. Testimony from Palestinians in the West Bank and their family members in the United States.
These are some of the developments that FOSNA and Sabeel are following and that friends and loved ones are experiencing-
Jenin, a large city in the north of the West Bank was under military siege for more than a week. Dozens of Palestinians have been killed, with many more displaced and it is estimated that as much as 80% of its infrastructure (roads, water, sewers, electricity) have been destroyed.
The cities of Nablus and Tulkarm are being raided and infrastructure is being destroyed by the Israeli military as well.
The Israeli settler attacks in Nablus resulted in the fatal shooting of a 13 year old girl as she sat by the window inside her home.
The Catholic Church in Jenin, the Church of the Holy Redeemer, is among the buildings that has been damaged by Israeli military bulldozers.
Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, an American citizen who was attempting to provide a peaceful witness to Palestinians who had experienced the theft of their land by Israeli settlers, was shot dead in Beita by an Israeli sniper.
Land thefts continue unimpeded and are accelerating as eyes are on the Kaissieh family who were thrown off their land despite being Israeli citizens and having an order from an Israeli court showing their ownership. The Kaissieh family land is in the village of Al-Makhrour which has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site.
