May 2025: U.S. CHRISTIAN LEADERS’ DELEGATION TO THE HOLY LAND
Responding to an urgent call from Christians in Palestine, Friends of Sabeel North America is working with our partners at the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center in Jerusalem to organize an 8-10 day delegation of US Christian leaders and bishops to the West Bank in May 2025 to visit Palestinian Christian communities and build relationships across global lines of difference.
We hope that this will be a diverse delegation of regional and institutional Christian leaders, who will be ready to share what they have seen and heard with their constituencies and the public at large upon their return home.
As part of a Sabeel delegation, you can expect to:
Demonstrate solidarity with Palestinians who are suffering. If conditions are suitable, this might entail visiting villages that are experiencing ongoing attacks by Israeli settlers. Leadership and training would be provided by Palestinian Christians who are experts in nonviolence.
Worship with Palestinian Christians. The worship will be a time to join together to pray together and discuss how our faith applies to the situation being faced in Palestine & Israel.
Learn about how the Palestinian community is resisting religious extremism, checkpoints, confiscation of land, home demolitions, and environmental degradation
Meet and reflect with Palestinian Christians, Muslims, Samaritans, Jewish Israelis and internationals who partner with Sabeel to uplift international and humanitarian law, as well as Heads of Churches that relate to each denomination’s leaders in the region.
